Mrs Taylor obtained her nursing degree with merit from the University of Stirling before joining the Urology team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. She developed a particular interest in continence care, going on to complete additional studies in bladder and bowel dysfunction before moving full time into the continence service. Whilst there she led service improvements and developed pathways and training guides for topics such as catheterisation, suprapubic catheter care and rectal irrigation systems, as well as arranging educational meetings for primary and secondary care staff.
Following this Mrs Taylor expanded her skills as an advanced clinical nurse specialist, initially at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre then back at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. She trained in gold seed implants to the prostate for radiotherapy and diagnostic TRUS biopsies of the prostate whilst continuing to provide independent clinics for continence and general care to urology patients.
Throughout her career Mrs Taylor has maintained an interest in continence care, service improvement and high quality care. This has now led to a new role at Care Inspectorate, although she has maintained clinical involvement with a part time ACNS role at the Beatson.
