Mr Taylor completed his undergraduate training at the University of Edinburgh before moving back to his native Yorkshire to complete his urological training. Whilst there he developed an interest in neuro-urology and functional urology working under some of the most respected names in the country. This led to an initial appointment at Pinderfields Hospital and regional spinal injuries unit before a move back up to Scotland in 2011 to join the team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

At Forth Valley Mr Taylor has delivered and developed the functional urology service, introducing sacral neuromodulation and artificial urinary sphincter insertion into the region, and developing the botox, penile surgery and HoLEP services. He is an author of the BAUS suprapubic catheter guidelines and has also played a key part in developing national rUTI and haematuria pathways in Scotland.

In addition to his clinical work Mr Taylor is Audit and Governance lead for the unit, Chair of the Acute Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, a committee member of the Scottish Pelvic Floor Network and a Module Lead for the National Urology ST3 Bootcamp
